John M. Curtis is Senior Policy Advisor and Coordinator, Trade and Economic Policy, and Director of Trade and Economic Analysis for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). In that capacity, he is responsible for providing overall trade and economic policy advice and for overseeing and managing trade and economic policy analysis and research within DFAIT. Dr. Curtis was involved in the Uruguay Round of GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) negotiations and played a major role in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum over the past decade. At the same time, he was involved in the work of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Trade Committee and in the Government of Canada’s private sector consultative process on trade policy. Dr. Curtis has a Doctorate in Economics from Harvard and maintains formal teaching and research links with both Carleton University and the University of Ottawa. |
